Why teams use it

Publish on WordPress,
not on servers.

WordPress wins on ecosystem: themes, plugins, WooCommerce, and agency know-how. The tax is everything around it—PHP runtimes, database upgrades, TLS, and patching calendars that never align with editorial deadlines.

Tower spins up the application tier, provisions a real MySQL-compatible database for each site, wires TLS, and exposes health and lifecycle controls through the portal and API—so authors and agencies spend time in wp-admin, not on runbooks.

The trade-off is scope: you still choose plugins and themes wisely; extreme performance tuning or exotic stacks may be a better fit for Virtual Machines or Containers where you need finer control.

Under the hood

Managed PHP & MySQL,
automatic HTTPS.

PHP-FPM runs on the same enterprise-grade AMD EPYC fleet as our other application services, sized to the plan you pick.

Each site receives its own managed database instance on dedicated replicated block storage—so schema growth, backups, and disk expansion stay decoupled from the web tier.

Default regional hostnames ship with automatic certificates; custom domains hook into the same TLS automation as the rest of Tower. Coordinated backups cover both the database and WordPress files so restores stay consistent.

Capabilities

What you get on Day One

Fast time-to-publish, managed MySQL, HTTPS by default, and backups that treat the site as one unit.

One-click deploy

Launch from the portal or API with sensible defaults. PHP, database wiring, and a public URL are ready before you open wp-admin.

Managed MySQL

Automatic database creation and configuration. You manage content and plugins; Tower operates the database service behind the scenes.

Daily backups

Scheduled backups of database and files to durable object storage. Restore workflows keep content and schema in sync.

Delivery tuning

Routing and TLS tuned for typical WordPress traffic patterns—well suited to blogs, brochure sites, and WooCommerce stores within plan limits.

Platform specifications

Values reflect the WordPress product line; exact limits may vary by region and account tier.

PHP runtime
PHP-FPM aligned with current WordPress requirements (8.1+). Worker sizing follows platform defaults for typical traffic profiles.

Compute
AMD EPYC–based application tier. CPU and memory map to the WordPress compute SKU you select.
Storage
Separate durable disks for WordPress files and database data, with online capacity growth where supported by the workload.
SSL & routing
Automatic HTTPS on default Tower hostnames; custom domains supported where your plan includes them.
Backups
